Golf: State Golf Wraps Up Season

In Class 5A, Salina Central was 11th as a team, shooting a 349 at Brookridge Golf and Fitness in Overland Park. Kapaun Mt. Carmel won the championship with a 303. Jacob Martin led the Mustangs with an 83, which was 39th individually. Will Shadwick finished with an 86, Max Humphrey had an 89, and Christian Leyh shot a 91 to count for the team score for the Mustangs.

Salina South’s Ben Hargrave competed as an individual and earned a medal. Hargrave shot a 78 to finish in a three-way tie for 11th. Hargrave finished 11th as a freshman before a state runner-up finish last season.

In Class 3A, Sacred Heart finished eighth as a team, shooting a 364 at Spring Creek Golf Course in Seneca. Sabetha was the team champion with a 336. Brooks Brown finished eighth individually with a 79. Brown finished third in a five-player playoff to come away with eighth place. Jack Skidmore was 43rd with an 89. Spencer Roberts shot a 96 and Colten VonLintel a 100 to complete team scoring for the Knights.

Southeast of Saline was 12th with a 394. Lance Maine shot a 93 and finished 54th for the Trojans. Sam Frost had a 97, Dan Frost shot a 98 and Jacob Ostmeyer finished with a 106 for Southeast.
