Friends Cruises to Win over KWU Men

Friends’ high-powered offense proved to be too much for Kansas Wesleyan, as the Falcons rolled to a 92-60 win over the Coyotes’ men’s basketball team on Saturday night at Mabee Arena.
Friends started hot from the floor, scoring 17 of the game’s first 23 points, racing out to a 17-6 lead with 13:34 to go in the half.
Wesleyan would get back within eight at 17-9 and nine at 20-11, but Friends would score six straight points to push the lead to 26-11 on a bucket by Colton Rausch with 9:54 to go in the half.
Friends would lead by as much as 16 at 29-13 and 31-15 before the Coyotes made a charge. Wesleyan would get within eight at 34-26 on back-to-back buckets by Brock Borovetz with 2:27 to play in the half. However, Friends closed the half with a quick 11-3 run, capped on a three by Joe Mitchell at the buzzer, to give Friends a 45-29 halftime lead, matching their large lead of 16.
It was all Friends in the second half. The Falcons scored eight of the first 10 points of the half to lead by 22 at 53-31 on a three by Rausch. The Coyotes would get as close as 16 at 53-37 on back-to-back threes by Hidalgo and Borovetz, but Friends would pull right back away. The Falcons led by as much as 33 down the stretch.
Kansas Wesleyan was led by Borovetz with 13 points while Dominique Johnson added 10. Friends was led in scoring with 25 from Rausch, 20 from Zach Nelson, 19 from Mitchell and 12 from White.
Friends is 20-5 overall and 11-3 in the KCAC, while Kansas Wesleyan drops to 4-20 overall, 2-12 in the KCAC.
