Falcons Roll Past Newton

KSAL Sports - June 25, 2013 6:20 am

The Salina Falcons Senior American Legion baseball team continued its strong season on Monday night, defeating Newton 9-3 in a nine-inning contest at Dean Evans Stadium.

The Falcons opened an early lead in the first, taking advantage of two Newton errors and walks to put up seven runs. The Falcons added two more runs in the fourth for a 9-0 lead before Newton scratched across two runs in the fifth and one in the seventh.

Trent Earley had a pair of hits and drove in two runs to pace the offense.

Daniel O’Brien picked up the win after pitching the first three innings. Josh Dolan, Jared Winter, Dillon Hopkins and Conner Boyer all pitched in the game.

The Falcons are 16-3, and host Great Bend on Wednesday.
