Falcons Drop Zone Opener

Mike Hammett - July 24, 2013 8:09 am

The Salina Falcons Senior American Legion baseball team is in a win-or-stay home situation in today’s Class AAA zone tournament.

If the Falcons defeat Junction City in an elimination game this afternoon, the Falcons advance to the state tournament. If the Falcons lose, their season is over, and Junction City advances to next week’s state tournament. First pitch is at 3pm.

The Falcons lost to Hays, 8-4, on Tuesday night to fall into the elimination game.

The Falcons got on the board in the first on Dalton Dooley’s sacrifice fly, but Hays took the lead with three runs in the third. The Falcons tied the game in the bottom of the third on Dooley’s RBI groundout and Keenan Breen’s run-scoring single.

Hays would add two more runs in the fourth and three in the fifth to blow the game open.
