Ell-Saline Softball Sweeps Sacred Heart

The Ell-Saline softball team remained unbeaten on the season on Thursday, sweeping Sacred Heart 12-2 and 10-2 in Brookville.

The Cardinals took control early in both games. Ell-Saline scored five runs in the first inning of game one, and then added three more in the second to lead 8-1. The Cardinals ended the game in five innings by run-rule by adding two more runs in both the fourth and fifth innings.

Danielle Sprinkle picked up the complete game win, giving up just two hits and striking out seven. Sprinkle added two home runs at the plate, while Madison Schuman had two triples among her three hits. Sydney Omli was four-for-four at the plate.

In game two, the Cardinals scored five times in the first again, and then added another run in the second for a 6-0 lead. After the Knights scored in the third, Ell-Saline added two more runs in both the fourth and fifth to put some more distance between the two teams.

Schuman was the winning pitcher for Ell-Saline. She added three more hits at the plate in the second game. Holly Lathan had two hits for the Knights.

Ell-Saline improves to 10-0 while Sacred Heart drops to 5-7.
