Ell-Saline Softball Returns to State

The Ell-Saline softball team is headed back to the Class 2-1A state tournament after Wednesday’s 10-0 regional championship win in five innings over Ellinwood in Lincoln.

The Cardinals started slowly on offense, taking the lead with two unearned runs in the third inning. Alleigh Weems’ RBI single¬†added one in the fourth. Ell-Saline then won the game by run-rule by scoring seven times in the fifth inning.

Madi Schuman, Sesely Omli and Weems all had two hits in the game. Danielle Sprinkle picked up the win, striking out seven and giving up just one hit.

The Cardinals reached the title game with a 15-0 win in four innings against Sylvan-Lucas/Wilson. Schuman was the winning pitcher, picking up a perfect game while striking out nine. Sydney Omli had three hits in the win.

The Cardinals are 23-0, picking up an extra win for the bye in the quarterfinals, and will play in next week’s Class 2-1A state tournament in Great Bend. A bracket will be released on Friday.
