Cougar Softball Sweeps Mustangs

The Salina South softball team swept cross-town rival Salina Central on Tuesday, winning 9-0 and 16-0 at Bill Burke Park.

In game one, Hailey Chapman gave up just one hit in a complete game shutout for South. Chapman had eight strikeouts.

In game two, Olivia Giroux and Bre Hogan both got some work in the circle, combining on a no-hitter in the four-inning victory.

Kaci Issacson picked up six hits, while Alison Rassette had five in the doubleheader.

The Cougars are 7-0 on the season and 4-0 in AVCTL Division I, while Central is 2-6 and 0-4 in league play.

South hosts Hays on Thursday, while Central visits Maize on Tuesday.
