Cougar Soccer Loses to Maize South on PKs

The Salina South girls soccer team came up just short against Maize South on Tuesday, losing to the Mavericks on penalty kicks at the McPherson Invitational.

The Cougars and Mavericks played to a 1-1 draw, but Maize South was able to beat the Cougars 4-2 on penalty kicks.

Salina South’s only goal in regulation was in the first half, when Nicole Budke scored off an assist from Katie Snyder. Maize South tied the game before halftime.

Maize South had 10 shots in the game, while Salina South had just two.

The Cougars are 0-3 on the season and play Topeka in the consolation bracket at 2pm on Friday.
