Salina Central’s Alissa Kim is the first Mustang girls golfer to win a state championship.
Kim, a senior, won Monday’s Class 5A state tournament at the Tex Consolver Golf Course in Wichita. Kim shot a 77, which gave her a three-shot victory over Maize South’s Lane Evans and Goddard Eisenhower’s Makena Mucciaccio.
Kim is the second individual girls golf champion from Salina. Salina South’s Cherise Erickson won the championship in 2005.
As a team, the Mustangs finished ninth. Emily Ewing shot a 101. Alycia Buchanan had a 108 and Grace Truelove shot a 112.
