Central Swimmers Second at Home

The Salina Central girls’ swimming team placed second at Thursday’s home quadrangular, at the Salina District Pool at Salina South.

The Mustangs were second to Newton. The Railers tallied 445 points to 308 for the Mustangs.

Central picked up three first-place finishes. Hannah Schulte, Sarah Schulte, Emily Ewing and Paige Johnson won the 200-yard medley relay in 2:02.45. Johnson won the 50 freestyle in 26.62 and Ewing took the 100 backstroke in 1:11.92.

Johnson added a second-place finish in the 100 freestyle in 59.39, and Ewing was second in the 100 butterfly in 1:08.83. Both were part of the second-place 400 freestyle relay with Elena Ewing and Sarah Schulte. Hannah Schulte was second in the 200 individual medley in 2:33.36 and 100 breastroke in 1:18.12. Maya Kathrineberg added a second place finish in diving with 159.20 points.
