Central Soccer Outlasts Wichita South

The Salina Central boys soccer team opened the season in thrilling fashion, downing Wichita South 5-4 in two overtimes at the Wichita South Titan Classic.
Zach Hampton gave Central the game-winning goal in the 89th minute on an assist from Tom Shadwick.
Central scored three times in the first half, and then again in the opening moments of the second half to lead Wichita South 4-0. Josh Claybaugh put Central on the board before Jack Weiner scored the following three goals for the Mustangs.
Wichita South then took over in the second half, scoring four straight goals and forcing overtime with a goal in the 79th minute.
The Mustangs are 1-0 and face Emporia at 6pm on Wednesday.
