Central Soccer Continues Streak Over South

The Salina Central boys soccer team kept its unbeaten record alive against Salina South on Monday with a 2-1 victory at Salina Stadium.

The Mustangs scored first, as Octavio Arias scored off his own rebound in the fifth minute.

South answered in the 24th minute, when Gonzalo Avila-Castro headed in Anthony Lopez’s corner kick, knotting the match at 1.

Central took the lead for good in the second half when Jack Weiner scored off an assist from Arias in the 58th minute.

The Mustangs took 13 shots to the Cougars’ 12 in the game.

Salina Central improves to 5-5-1 and 3-0-1 in AVCTL Division I. Salina South is 7-3-1, 0-2-1 in AVCTL Division I.

Salina Central hosts Hutchinson tonight, while Salina South is at Derby.
