Central Golf Looks For Third Straight State Trip

Mike Hammett - September 1, 2013 10:14 pm

A third straight state tournament appearance as a team is the season goal for Salina Central girls golf coach Steve Ewing.
The Mustangs return seven varsity golfers from last season. Seniors Emily Ewing, Alissa Kim and Kristonna Kramer, juniors Sarah Bartz, Hannah Boaz and Alycia Buchanan and sophomore Grace Truelove all return.
On top of all the returners, Ewing is expecting contributions from junior Eryn Miller.
“Our strength is our seniors, who have led the team to qualify for two consecutive state tournaments,” Ewing said.
Ewing said the biggest key to success for this year’s team is “to improve on consistency in the second half of the season.”
The Mustangs open the season on Tuesday at Smoky Hill Country Club in Hays. Tee time is 1pm.
