For the second week in a row, the Salina Bombers rally for a road win. This time, the Bombers rallied past the Oklahoma Defenders 46-34 in Tulsa.
Frank Miles scored the opening touchdown of the game on a five-yard run. The extra point failed, and the Bombers led 6-0 out of the gate.
However, Oklahoma scored the next three touchdowns, taking a 21-6 lead midway through the second quarter.
Then, the Bombers turned it on. Ricky Roberts caught a 39-yard touchdown pass from Dane Simoneau, and Frank Miles rumbled in from a yard for another score. Salina trailed at halftime 21-19.
In the third quarter, the Bombers regained the lead when Roberts hauled in a 26-yard pass from Simoneau, putting Salina up 25-21. Seth Myers added a touchdown catch later in the quarter, pushing the lead to 32-21 after three.
In the fourth quarter, the Defenders and Bombers traded scores. Oklahoma scored first to get back within five before Simoneau hit Corey Ham for a 6-yard touchdown pass, pushing the Salina lead to 12 at 39-27.
The Defenders had another push, as they cut the gap to five at 39-34. However, the Bombers answered again, as Simoneau scored on a 10-yard run to seal the win.
Simoneau was 20-for-29 passing for 240 yards and four touchdowns and also ran for a score. Roberts had nine catches for 142 yards and two touchdowns.
The Bombers close the regular season at 9-3. Salina is the fourth seed for the playoffs, which start next week. The Bombers will travel to Sioux City to face the top-seeded Bandits in the semifinals. Sioux City won in the closing seconds in Salina earlier this season.
