Bombers Defeat Koyotes

The Salina Bombers got back to winning ways on Saturday night, with a 37-20 win over the Kansas Koyotes at the Bicentennial Center.
The Koyotes scored first when former Fort Hays State running back James Walker picked up a four-yard touchdown run and two-point conversion for an 8-0 lead.
The Bombers would strike next as Demetrius Cox scored from six-yards out. The extra point was good, and the Bombers trailed 8-7 after a quarter.
Salina took the lead early in the second quarter when Dane Simoneau found Pelton Smalls for an 18-yard touchdown pass. The two-point conversion failed, and the Bombers led 13-8.
The Koyotes went back in front just minutes later, but missed the extra point and led 14-13.
The Bombers came right back with the go-ahead score before halftime. Attrail Snipes caught a 40-yard touchdown pass from Simoneau. The two-point conversion was good as the Bombers led 21-14 at the break.
After a scoreless third quarter, the Bombers added to the lead on a five-yard touchdown pass from Simoneau to Ricky Roberts. The Bombers led 28-14.
The Koyotes would pull back within a score before Simoneau scored on a 15-yard run and Corey Hoover added a field goal for the 37-20 win.
Simoneau completed 11-of-24 passes for 123 yards and three touchdowns. The Bombers outgained the Koyotes 181 to 119.
The Bombers are 6-3 while the Koyotes drop to 1-8. Salina hosts Lincoln in its final home game of the 2013 regular season next week.
