AUDIO: Kansas Wesleyan Coaches Show 9/11

Pat Strathman - September 12, 2017 7:26 am

The fall season continues to roll on for the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes.

And so does the Kansas Wesleyan Coaches Show, which takes place every Monday from 6 to 7 pm, live at Burger Theory inside the Holiday Inn just past Lowe’s. Come in for the $6.99 Build-Your-Own-Burger Special that includes a side. Various members of the Wesleyan athletic department will be there.

This week, it wasn’t just about the coaches.

Senior middle hitter Kelsey Plummer joined the fun. The Rock Creek High School product shared the reasons why she came to Kansas Wesleyan. Plummer is currently second in the nation for blocks per game.

Head coach Fred Aubuchon hopped on the program with a slightly different title. On Saturday, KWU took down Southwestern, giving coach Aubuchon his 173rd victory as head coach. He passed hall of fame coach Tracy Rietzke for most wins in KWU volleyball history. Coach Aubuchon reflected on his time at KWU and even opened up about his first season in 2009.

Men’s soccer started the 2017 slate with a 2-1 victory over Doane. Since then, the Coyotes have lost three consecutive matches, but head coach Diego Cocon is seeing improvement. New players are still getting adjusted to the new style of play. Coach Cocon appeared on the show to break down the season so far and describe three main styles of soccer players.

Kansas Wesleyan football was off over the weekend, giving coach Matt Drinkall a little time to watch football. In the last contest, KWU took down Concordia 28-13. Coach Drinkall revisited that game, revealed what he did during the bye week and much more.

KWU hosts Saint Mary this Saturday at 6. Pregame coverage starts at 5:30 on FM 104.9. It’s Salina Day at the Graves Family Sports Complex with a giant tailgate taking place beforehand. Below is an ad that allows you to get $4 tickets!
