Soldier Killed in Motorcycle Crash

FORT RILEY – A Fort Riley Soldier killed in a motorcycle accident last
week has been identified.

Chief Warrant Officer 3 Benjamin F. Locke, 40, was involved in a Dec. 10
collision in Junction City, Kansas. He was transported to Geary Community
Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Locke was assigned as a platoon leader in Troop A, 1st Squadron, 6th Cavalry
Regiment, 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Inf. Div. He arrived at Fort
Riley in 2014.

“Benjamin was one of our best, and his absence leaves a void that we cannot
fill,” Col. John M. Cyrulik, 1st CAB commander, said. “His family is our
family, and we will support them unconditionally through this difficult
time.”

Formerly an OH-58D Kiowa Warrior pilot, Locke retrained as an unmanned
systems operator technician. He deployed twice to Iraq and three times to
Afghanistan. He entered the Army from Florida.

The Junction City Police Department is investigating the incident.
