A Fort Riley soldier is killed in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 70.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 22-year-old Calvin Michalak was driving a Pontiac G6 west on I 70. For an unknown reason he entered the center median and struck concrete bridge pillars.

Michalak, who the patrol says was not buckled up, died at the scene.

The crash happened during the noon hour Tuesday on Interstate 70 in Ellsworth County about nine miles northwest of Ellsworth.
