Small Quakes Reported in North-Central Kansas

Two small earthquakes have shaken parts of north-central Kansas.

The Hays Post reports that the 2.7- and 3.4-magnitude quakes struck Wednesday. The U.S. Geological Survey says both were centered about 25 miles southeast of Smith Center.

Officials with the Osborne and Smith County Sheriff’s Department said they didn’t receive any calls about the quakes. Scientists say damage is not likely in earthquakes below magnitude 4.0.
