Shoplifter Leaves Empty Handed

Police are looking for a white male with red hair who attempted to leave a Salina business with a power saw on Tuesday evening without paying.

According to Captain Mike Sweeney, staff at Waters True Value Hardware, 460 S. Ohio, confronted the suspect after he used store wire cutters to sever the theft protection cord from a Stihl brand concrete saw and tossed it in a cart.

Police say decide to leave the saw behind and ran after an employee approached him in the garden center.

The suspect, who is described as 20 to 30 years old, was wearing a ball cap, red polo shirt and shorts.

The saw which is valued at $1,100 was not damaged.
