Semi Hits Multiple Cows, Rolls

A truck driver is hurt crashing into multiple cows on a dark interstate highway.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 57-year-old Troy Smith of Wichita was driving a semi pulling two trailers west on Interstate 70. He struck a cow in the road. Smith lost control of the vehicle, veered into the ditch, hitting other cattle. The truck eventually rolled 1.5 times, coming to rest on its top in the north ditch.

Smith, who was buckled up, was hurt. He was transported to the hospital in Salina.

The crash happened at 11:22 Friday night just west of the K156 Junction on I 70 in Ellsworth County.
