Second Hutchinson Juvenile Enters Plea in High School Plot

The second of two Hutchinson High School teenagers accused of planning an attack at the high school pleaded no contest to conspiracy to commit capital murder.

The 15-year-old boy entered the plea Tuesday in Reno County Court.

The Hutchinson News reports the judge has ordered a psychological evaluation for the boy, who is in custody at the Reno County Juvenile Detention Center.

A 14-year-old male co-defendant pleaded no contest to the same charge June 2.

Prosecutors say the pair conspired to kill specific staff at the school using pipe bombs. Court documents allege the pair wrote plans for the bombs, obtained gunpowder from fireworks and made blasting caps to trigger them. Police arrested the two after another student told high school administration of the plot.
