School Sign Ripped Off Wall

Police detail an overnight break-in at Stewart Elementary School from earlier this week.

According to Lt. Scott Siemsen, sometime in the overnight hours between Wednesday night and Thursday morning someone broke into Stewart Elementary and stole a school sign.

Police say a yellow, 40-inch by 24-inch sign that reads “Grace E. Stewart You Make a Difference,” was torn off the wall and taken.

Eighteen exterior screen windows were also cut and the glass on an office door was shattered. Parents dropping off children Thursday morning at Stewart Elementary School were surprised by a police presence.

Students arriving initially went to the gym, instead of their classrooms.

Loss and damage is listed at $2,400.
