Scam Cheats Man out of $3,000

A Salina man falls victim to a wire fraud scam. According to Lt. Scott Siemsen, last week a 55-year-old Salina man answered an ad to help a company do a customer survey on Western Union and Advance America wire services.

Police say a company listed as IMC Research Services, sent a bogus check in the amount of $3,380 to the man to deposit in his bank account. He then followed the company’s instructions to wire two, $1,500 checks – using each of the businesses and rate the customer service. The company told him he would be paid the remaining$380 for his help.

The man’s bank, contacted him on July 19th to inform him the check was a fraud. Police say he was bilked out of $3,000.
