Saturday Significant Severe Weather Possible

Forecasters and weather experts say that conditions are becoming favorable for a significant severe weather outbreak this weekend that includes the possibility of strong, long-track tornadoes and baseball-sized hail.

According to the National Weather Service, significant severe storms are expected late Saturday afternoon and evening across central and south central Kansas.

Tornadoes, hail greater than 2″ in diameter, and 70 mph wind is possible with the stronger storms. Locations generally west of I-135 will have an enhanced risk of strong, long-track tornadoes.

Flooding is also a concern. A flood watch is in effect through Sunday morning.
