Candidate: Rodger Sparks
Bio: Age 62. Retired. Married with one daughter. Rodger grew up in Hoisington with small town values. He was taught to listen, follow directions, work hard and learn from mistakes made. He has been a property owner in rural Saline County for over 40 years. Rodger came to Saline County in 1971 to attend Salina Area Vocational Technical School. He remained in Saline County and became a small business owner in the engineering supplies, computer aided drafting, and internet provider markets. After selling his business, he became a sales person for a company in the same line of business. Through the business contact, Rodger has worked directly with most of the 105 counties in the state of Kansas as well as city, state and federal agencies. On the county level, he has worked with the offices of County Appraiser, GIS, Road and Bridge, Surveyor, Register of Deeds, County Engineering and EMS. The business experience has provided Rodger with knowledge in design, estimating, purchasing, human relations and customer support. All of which will be helpful in decision making while serving the citizens as County Commissioner.
Candidate Statement: Saline County was at one time very progressive and a driving force in county government. Rodger is committed to working with commissioners and staff to build morale and confidence in the organization and improve the relationship with the City of Salina governing body. Rodger is looking forward to representing District 3 for the next four years.
