Saline County Commission: Robert Vidricksen
KSAL Staff - July 1, 2016 10:44 am
Office: Saline County Commission District 2
Candidate: Robert Vidricksen
Bio: Age 69. I am a lifelong Saline County resident. I was born and raised in Saline County and have spend my entire life here. I am married to my wife of 45 years, Kathy. We have 2 children and 4 grandchildren, all living in Saline County. After 32 years of service, I retired from Steel & Pipe Supply Co. as a Regional Manager. I attended Salina public schools. I graduated from Salina High and Fort Hays State University. I am a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and served on the church council. I have been a registered Republican for 51 years. My strengths are strong negotiating and communication skills as well as a great deal of common sense.
Candidate Statement: I want the county and city governing bodies to re-establish a working relationship. I want the county commissioners to become more of a visionary board as opposed to a reactionary board. The county commission needs to turn the day to day decisions back to the county administrator and let that person do their job. In no particular order, overcrowding in the jail, new voting machines, retention of sheriff’s office employees, Exp Center, building maintenance, employee pay and benefits, and many other issues loom on the horizon. I want to help decide the direction the county moves on theses issues. I will vote against the proposed salary increase for commissioners. The salary should remain at its current rate of $12,000 annually.
