Saline County Commission: Mike White

KSAL Staff - July 1, 2016 11:11 am

Office: Saline County Commission District 5

Candidate: Mike White

Party: Republican

Bio: Resident of Saline County since 1959.  My wife, Kathy and I live northwest of Salina at White Buffalo Ranch.  We maintain a breeding herd of 50 head of buffalo.  In 1990, I was elected to serve as your Saline County Commissioner and reelected three more terms for a total of 16 years.  During my term, I was impressed with the style of county government as the most open, accountable and accessible form of government.  I will strive to achieve this with my honesty and integrity by serving the citizens of Saline County.

Candidate Statement:  Communication is key in the office of a local public elected official, and nobody knows that more than I do.  I have the experience needed to improve communication within departments and I know how to work with other government entities.  I know how to listen to members of the community when it comes to matters of concern.  We need to restore confidence in county government.

History repeats itself.  Saline County is dealing with jail overcrowding, roads and bridges, health department issues, reappraisal classification, shortage of state funds, and many other challenging issues.  In the next few years, the commission will need to make some difficult decisions.  I will provide the sound leadership and guidance to determine the best outcome for the citizens of Saline County.  I have the experience to find the best solutions for the public good.  I would appreciate your vote on August 2nd.  Thank you!
