Candidate: Courtney Train
Bio: Courtney Train works as an advocate for victims of domestic and sexual abuse and serves as the Domestic Violence Association of Central Kansas’ Community Outreach & Engagement Coordinator. Before graduating from Minnesota’s Gustavus Adolphus College with degrees in Communication Studies and Peace Studies, Train was actively involved in forensics, theatre, and various student leadership organizations at Salina Central High School, where she was president of her class. Diligent and determined, Train now runs for Dist. 4’s County Commission seat.
Candidate Statement: Passionate about building a strong, healthy community, Courtney Train dedicates herself to the well-being and dignity of all people. She is actively involved in Saline County, collaborating with various community agencies and volunteering for groups like Big Brothers Big Sisters, Salina Initiative for Restorative Justice, and Salina Area Workers Coalition. As County Commissioner, Train seeks to serve and engage citizens, decrease jail population, and increase public health through education, violence prevention, and mental health services. It is essential young people-and all people-are involved in the decisions that affect their lives and community, and that is exactly what Train is doing. This county deserves leaders yearning to learn, listen, and act.
