Salinans Hurt in Wrong Way Interstate Crash

Three people, including two from Salina, were hurt Friday night in a head on collision on Interstate 70 near Chapman.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2007 Ford Fusion passenger car driven by 18-year-old Paige Woodbury from Liberty, Missouri,  was headed west on I70. For an unknown reason she lost control, crossed the median, veered into the eastbound lanes, and collided head on with an oncoming 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV.

Woodbury, who was not buckled up, was  transported to the hospital in Abilene.

The driver of the SUV, 26-year-old Ellen Taylor of Salina, was flown by helicopter from the scene to Salina Regional Health Center and then transferred to a Wichita hospital. A passenger, 10-year-old Jordan Thiem of Salina, was transported to the hospital in Junction City and then transferred to a Topeka hospital. Both were buckled up.

The crash happened Friday night at at 7:06,two miles west of the Chapman exit on Interstate 70.
