Salina Teen Killed In Crash

One Salina teen was killed and another was injured in a car crash Saturday afternoon near Minneapolis.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, 17-year-old Paige Tope was driving a 2006 Chevrolet HHR headed north on US 81 Highway, in the right hand lane. For an unknown reason she swerved onto the right shoulder, and then over corrected. The car rolled through the median and came to rest on the southbound shoulder facing southwest.

Tope was hurt in the crash and was transported to the hospital in Salina. A passenger, 18-year-old Reed Ash of Salina, was killed.

Troopers say that Tope was buckled up, while Ash was not.

The crash happened at 1:51 Saturday afternoon on US 81 Highway in Ottawa County 2.5 miles Southeast of Minneapolis.
