UPDATE: Salina School Bond Issue Passes

The final numbers are in, and voters pass the Salina School Bond issue.

Saline County Clerk Don Merriman released the final results Tuesday afternoon.

YES: 8,779

NO: 5,934

Merriman said there are still 53 provisional ballots left to count. Merriman says that there were 300 envelopes not signed, so those votes were not counted.

The $110.7 million bond issue will address district needs including safety and security, all-day kindergarten, career and technical education and improvements at both high schools, plus storm shelters at all the schools.

USD 305 Superintendent Dr. Bill Hall tells KSAL News that he is very gratified by the results. He credits the hard work of numerous volunteers in getting the word out.

Hall says that the real winners in this election are the students of USD 305.

Merriman adds that 52.5 percent of eligible voters participated in the election.
