Salina Robbery Arrest

A Salina man was arrested a short time after he allegedly robbed a liquor store.

Captain Mike Sweeney tells KSAL News that 54-year-old Richard Brazo was taken into custody on Saturday afternoon on robbery and theft charges.

Police say Brazo purchased two cans of beer at Dallas Liquor, 965 N. Broadway and then tried to leave the store with 2 bottles of whiskey he did not pay for. The clerk confronted him, and got the bottles back telling Brazo he could not return to the store.

About 20-minutes later – around 4:45pm, Brazo allegedly walked in and grabbed the male clerk by the throat and demanded money. Police say he forced the clerk behind the register, took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled.

An officer on patrol recognized Brazo from the alert, followed him to the Hawthorne Apartments, 719 N. 9th and made the arrest.

Police report the clerk had scratches on his forearms and red marks on his neck.
