Salina Radio Station KSAL Staff Honored

Staff members from Salina Media Group radio station News Radio 1150 KSAL are honored by the Kansas Association of Broadcasters. The association announced its 2013 KAB Awards of Excellence on Monday.

News Radio 1150 KSAL received three awards.

Jeff Garretson received a first place award in the Complete Newscast Category. Garretson was honored for his KSAL Morning News.

The KSAL Severe Weather team received a second place award in the Complete Severe Weather Coverage category. The team was honored for coverage of the Bennington tornado.

Clarke Sanders, Todd Pittenger, and Mike Hammett received an honorable mention award in the Public Affairs Program category. The trio was honored for their work on “The Clarke Sanders Show”.

News Radio 1150 KSAL was the only radio station in Salina honored with awards.

According to the KAB, nearly 600 entries were submitted by broadcasters from across the state. The awards will be handed out at the KAB Convention in Manhattan in October.
