Police Crack Down on Underage Drinkers

KSAL Staff - September 21, 2015 11:46 am

An accident at the intersection of Crawford and Ninth Street Saturday night led the police to a slew of citations for minor in consumption and social hosting of a party serving to minors.

Cindy Crawford, an 18-year-old Kansas Wesleyan student, fell out of a moving 2006 GMC truck driven by Savana Saenz turning from Crawford onto Ninth Street. Crawford suffered minor abbrasions to the face, a chipped tooth and a lost tooth.

Saenz and Jacqueline Kohlmaier, another passenger in the vehicle, got her back into the truck and took her back to the dormitory. When Crawford started vomitting, that prompted her friends to take her to the hospital where she was treated for her injuries.

This is where police discovered that Crawford was intoxicated, and this led them to cite Crawford, Saenz, 18, Kohlmaier, 18, Jordan Murray, 19, Kellin Palmateer, 19 and Casey Zook, 18, with minor in consumption of alcohol.

Police further investigated to find the source of the alcohol was a party held at 126 South College. Colton Spresser, Mitchell Kufahl, Tanner Ranieri, Kaleb Whitehair, Tyler Odey and Garrett Walker were cited with social hosting serving minors. Police continue to investigate the incident.

Just maybe Kansas should reinstate the law to let 18 year olds drink 3.2 beer again.
