“Red Nose Day” In Salina

The Salina Area United Way is participating in the first nationwide “Red Nose Day” event.

On May 21st Red Nose Day will be celebrated across the U.S. for the first time. This campaign is dedicated to raising money for children and young people living in poverty across the world by making people laugh.

Red Nose Day was started by the nonprofit organization Comic Relief. Red Nose Day has been celebrated in the United Kingdom for the last 30 years.

United Way is one of 12 organizations partnering with and receiving funds raised from Red Nose Day. 50% of the funds raised will be spent in the USA, while the other 50% will go towards some of the poorest communities in the world in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

In Salina, the Long McArthur car dealership is helping in a fundraising effort to help fund local children’s reading programs through the Salina Area United Way.

To participate:

1. Get your red nose from Walgreens, Long McArthur, or the Salina Area United Way
2. Take a selfie with your red nose
3. Post your selfie on social media between now and May 22 with the hashtag #rednose and #salinaselfie
