Salina Man Scammed over Phone

Salina Police are once again warning citizens about phone scams.

Captain Mike Sweeney tells KSAL News that a Salina man in his 50’s was cheated out of $1,550 after a caller convinced him he had won millions last week.

The victim told police a man who called himself, Bob Green told him over the phone he had won, “A substantial cash prize of $7.5 million and a Mercedes Benz.”

To collect his prize the victim paid for so-called ‘processing fees’ by sending $1,550 via Western Union to the scammers.

The victim contacted police after he was asked to send even more money and no cash prize arrived.
