Salina Man Chokes Woman, Child

A Salina man is arrested for allegedly attempting to strangle a woman and child in a south Salina home.

Officers were called to Salina Regional Health Center on Sunday evening after a woman and elementary school aged male were treated and released.

Police arrested 30-year-old Darris Brown on multiple charges that include aggravated battery, 4 counts of of battery and child abuse.

Authorities found marks on both the woman’s and boy’s throats they say is consistent with being choked.

Police say four other children of elementary school age who were in the home, were also battered.

Captain Mike Sweeney tells KSAL News that police believe alcohol may have played a role in the incident.
