KSAL Staff - June 12, 2015 11:28 am

Two Nebraska men operating a food booth at the Smoky hill River Festival in Salina were arrested late Thursday night.

Salina Police Captain Mike Sweeney says that the men, who are half brothers, got into an altercation with one another. During the altercation, 23-year-old Kevin Waites allegedly choked 25-year-old Malcom Richards. Richard then used a razor-blade type knife that was in his pocket to cut Waites.

Waites was transported by EMS to to Salina Regional Health Center, where he was treated and released. He received 14 stitches and 44 staples to close the cut.

Both men were arrested on charges that could include aggravated battery. Both are from Omaha, Nebraska.

Richards is the owner of the Pacific Rim Noodle House, which is located in the food court area of the Smoky Hill River Festival. Waites is an employee at the food booth.

The altercation happened at around 7:30 Thursday night, as the Festival Jam was going on.
