Powerball Jackpot Now Largest Ever

Associated Press - January 7, 2016 6:30 am

There was no jackpot winner in Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing, driving the jackpot up to an estimated $475 million for Saturday.

There was no jackpot winner in Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing, driving the jackpot up to an estimated $475 million for Saturday.

There was no winner of the $500 million Powerball jackpot Wednesday night, so the estimated prize for this weekend’s drawing is the largest jackpot of any lottery game in U.S. history.

Texas Lottery spokeswoman Kelly Cripe says Saturday’s drawing will be worth about $675 million.

Wednesday’s numbers were 2, 11, 47, 62 and 63, and the Powerball was 17.

The previous record was a $656 million Mega Millions jackpot won in March 2012.

Powerball is played in 44 states, the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. In Kansas, Powerball tickets are sold everywhere Kansas Lottery tickets are sold.
