Pot Found in Car with Kids

KSAL Staff - March 18, 2015 11:27 am

A traffic stop leads to drug and child endangerment charges for a Salina man.

Police arrested 21-year-old Macio Domingo Palacio on Tuesday evening after an officer pulled him over in the 600 block of Viemont for driving a car without a seat belt on.

The officer noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and a search revealed several packages of pot plus drug paraphernalia.

Police confiscated 35-grams of pot.

Two children, a 9-year-old boy and a 1-year-old boy were also in the car and released to a guardian.

Palacio is now facing multiple charges including possession of marijuana with intent to sell plus child endangerment.

First question is he legally here? If he is then he should file a lawsuit against the police department for violating his rights. Stopping one because they are not wearing a seat belt is against the constitution and its time Kansa is taken to task on it. It seems funny there is no law against riding a motorcycle without a helmet but they pass a law concerning seatbelts. I wish they would show pictures of the people killed by wearing a seat belt with their heads severed from their body.

Looks like profiling to me. Drive around Salina and you see more people not using seat belts than do.
