Police Urge Caution For Counterfeit Bills

As the seventh counterfeit $100 since the turn of the year surfaced yesterday in Salina, Salina police are urging caution to businesses that accept these bills.

Yesterday, a counterfeit $100 bill surfaced at Taco Johns at Central Mall between 2-6PM. The bill was discovered by employees at the business.

Captain Mike Sweeney of the Salina Police Department urges caution to businesses by saying, “Businesses have to educate themselves on the most common features of the bill. When in doubt, don’t accept them. Call the police, and get a description of the person and vehicle if possible.”

Captain Sweeney also encourages to check the security features on the bill, such as the color changing features on both the background and in the numbers.
