Police Step Up DUI Patrols

Salina Police will be out in force over the next two weeks looking for drunk drivers, texting drivers and seat belt violations.

Police Captain Chris Trocheck tells KSAL News that beginning Monday, May 23rd through Saturday, June 4th extra officers will be on patrol city wide looking for drivers who are texting or drunk and occupants who are not buckled upĀ  as part of the 2016 S.T.E.P.(Special Traffic Enforcement Program).

The overtime for extra officers is paid for with a grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation.
