Police Investigating after Jeep Damaged

An eyewitness may have stopped another vehicle burglary from happening inside the hospital’s parking garage.

Salina Police Captain Mike Sweeney tells KSAL News that at 1:45am Wednesday morning, a Salina Regional Health Center employee was leaving work and saw a subject standing behind a Jeep Liberty parked on the third level.

They noticed the Jeep’s rear window hatch had been torn off and was on the ground.

The employee reported the situation to security, who contacted police. The witness added that they saw two bikes, one red, one white near the Jeep.

When officers arrived they found one bike left behind, a white 26-inch Schwinn. Damage to the Jeep is listed at $200. The vehicle is owned by a 25-year-old woman from McPherson.

Earlier this week, police reported a vehicle burglary that occurred Monday inside the garage.

In that case, two doors on a 2001 Sunfire were damaged and numerous items were stolen from the car.
