Police Arrest Man Found In Dog Kennel

An arrest was made on July 13th for a reported aggravated battery.

Jose Penado-Perez, 28, was arrested Sunday afternoon for an alleged assault on a female acquaintance.

The woman told officers that she was struck 10 to 12 times, was knocked unconscious, and dragged back inside the residence when she tried to leave.

The victim was able to grab a knife and cut a 1 to 2 inch wound into the suspect’s upper right arm. He then, allegedly, put the knife up against her throat threatening to cut her.

EMS attended to both and determined no medical transportation was needed.

Police arrived at the scene following a 911 call from the victim. Captain Mike Sweeney said the police officers at the scene found the suspect hiding inside a dog kennel in the house.

Captain Sweeney tells KSAL News, once he exited the kennel, Penado-Perez allegedly threatened and fought with the officers, causing some damage to the patrol car in the process.

Penado-Perez is being charged with aggravated assault, criminal threat, obstruction, criminal restraint and damage of property.
