Pilot Of Missing Chopper Is From Kansas

The pilot of a missing marine helicopter in Nepal is from Wichita. Chris Norgren was piloting the helicopter when it disappeared Tuesday while delivering aid to earthquake victims.

Six U.S. Marines and two Nepalese soldiers were aboard the helicopter when it went missing. The crew was overheard in radio transmissions talking about fuel trouble.

An air search was suspended overnight, and ground troops are searching rugged terrain for signs of the chopper.

The helicopter was taking part in earthquake relief efforts in a rugged, mountainous area at the time contact was lost.

Norgren is a graduate of Bishop Carroll High School.
