PHOTO GALLERY: A Night For Women Only

A large gathering of women converged on Heritage Hall at the Salina Bicentennial Center for an event just for them. Salina Media Group’s annual For Women Only event drew a large crowd Thursday evening, and as promised provided a full night of entertainment, prizes, and fun.

There were over 50 booths and exhibits for the women to enjoy. Many of the exhibitors gave away prizes. There were also free food and drink samples to enjoy.

Along with the exhibitors, entertainment was provided throughout the evening onstage. It included presentations, fashion shows, and demonstrations by Bloomer’s Landscape and Nursery, Rolling Hills Zoo, and the  Hays Academy of Hair Design Salina Campus.

Comedian Lurlenne the Trailer Court Queen was the headline entertainment. Lurlenne, with her hillbilly-type humor and silly origan songs, was a big hit.

The big winner of the night was Patricia Keil of Salina. She won the grand prize, a $1,500 diamond pendant courtesy of Riddle’s Jewelry in Salina’s Central Mall. Keil told KSAL News that she had just got up out of her seat and was headed for the exit when she hear her came called as the winner. “I was stunned,” she said, “because I have never before won anything like this.”
