Passenger on Ground After Crash

A woman in a truck was hurt in a two vehicle crash that left her on the ground in a North Salina Street Monday morning. The crash happened at the intersection of Santa Fe and North Streets.

The Kansas Highway Patrol told KSAL News at the scene that a pickup truck driven by 28-year-old Ashley Collins of Newton was headed south on Santa Fe.   A small passenger car, driven by 77-year-old Shirley Sparks of Salina was headed west on North Street. The car failed to yield at a stop sign, and the vehicles collided in the intersection.

A passenger in the truck was on the ground, in the street, when first responders arrived. She was identified as 28-year-old Emily Swank of Salina. The patrol says that she was not ejected, but rather fell out of the truck after the collision. She was not buckled up.

Collins and Swank were both transported by EMS to Salina Regional Health Center. Sparks was not hurt.

The patrol says that while Swank was not buckled up, the two drivers were.

The crash happened at around 11:00 Monday morning.
