An overnight break-in at a Salina elementary school prompted some early morning schedule alterations.

Parents dropping off children Thursday morning at Stewart Elementary School were surprised by a police presence. Students arriving initially went to the gym, instead of their classrooms.

According to USD 305, police officials were on the scene at Stewart Elementary investigating a break-in that occurred during the overnight hours.

Students and staff were safe and school went on as usual.
