Invisalign On-Point Questions

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a nearly invisible solution to straightening your teeth.  The treatment consists of a series of clear, removable trays that over time straighten and align teeth.  No need for obtrusive wires or metal brackets anymore, which is so nice, especially for adults.

Who is a candidate for Invisalign?

Invisalign is typically used for straightforward, simpler orthodontic cases, but we won’t know whether you’re a candidate until we take a look.  We would be happy to see you for a complimentary consultation to determine whether Invisalign would work for you.

Will it work for kids?

Invisalign is a great solution for kids who can responsibly keep track and wear their trays.  It won’t work unless they’re worn, but we find most teens do wonderfully with Invisalign.  With many teen’s social pressures to fit in, Invisalign allows for a seamless transition to a beautiful smile.  What parent doesn’t want to set their children up for career and social success?

Does Invisalign hurt?

The great thing about Invisalign is that there are no metal wires, or brackets.  This means, no pokey wires, wax, or tightening of the metal wires and brackets.  Invisalign is very comfortable. You can even take them out to eat and brush.  Inherently moving teeth can cause some achiness, however, many of my patients have told me they have no pain whatsoever during this entire process.

How long does treatment usually take?

Treatment time depends upon the complexity of the case.  We can do some cases in 8 months and others take 18.  Once I see you, I can give you an estimate of how long I expect the treatment to take.

My teeth aren’t THAT bad…should I still look into Invisalign?

One of the biggest myths is that braces are only for straightening teeth.  Although braces do make teeth straighter and more beautiful, braces also improve the functioning of teeth.  More than 80% of people have teeth that come together incorrectly for eating and chewing.  This can cause headaches, pain, chipping of teeth and recession of gums.  Invisalign corrects this bite relationship for a lifetime of pain-free chewing function.

Why should I get Invisalign now?

Many of us procrastinate, right?  The trouble with waiting is that teeth follow the law of inertia.  They stay in motion unless acted upon by an outside force.  This is why teeth relapse when people don’t wear their retainers and why teeth continue to look more and more crowded over time, and why spaces between teeth get bigger.  Teeth are moving and will continue to get worse, unless something is done about it.  Waiting only makes for larger problems later.

Does my insurance cover any of it?

Some insurance plans do cover Orthodontics, but all plans are different regarding the percentages and maximum amounts.  We recommend you ask one of our financial coordinators for more information on whether or not your specific plan covers implants.

Do you take payments?

We have some great patient options available.  We offer 18 month, zero interest payment plans through Care Credit, you can save money by prepaying and we even have some in-house payment plans.
